With the state of Utah and Idaho being socked in with fog we had some problems getting out of SLC. We sat on the runway for about 45 minutes before we could take off. We did however arrive in Boise "non the worse for the wear". We went immediately to Red Robin Restaurant as all the girls were starved.
We arrived at the meet site on Friday afternoon determined to improve on last weeks outting. We started on the bars and hit 5 of our 6 routines. Brogan Jacobsen lead the way with a score of 9.90. Vault hit well with Kirsten Pauga and Jaime Mabray scoring 9.875 a piece. I felt like the team did a much better job of adjusting to the surroundings and vaulting like we practiced. We are also continuing to improve as several of the girls are getting closer to 10.0 vaults. Floor. always an event we can count on, did well as usual scoring a team score of 49.35. Kari Lords lead floor with a score of 9.95 (really a great routine) Karie has come a long way since her freshman year, she has really learned to preform. Jaime Mabray also did a fantastic set scoring 9.90. Balance Beam had the biggest turn around of the evening hitting 5 of 6 routines for the meet. Freshman Kandis Kelly started us off with a stuck set that scored 9.725. Again Kari Lords lead the way with a great beam set that earned a 9.95.
I don't know for sure but I think that our score of 196.275 is the highest score we have ever had his early in the season. The team is working hard and looking forward anxiously to our meet this weekend with the University of Utah, always the team to beat in the NCAA. Utah is ranked #1 in the country, and when BYU and Utah meet it is always a close contest.
