Coaches Comments
The first home meet for the Cougars was exciting on many levels. Not only were they ranked 11th in the nation and going up against their rivals from the University of Utah, but the Utes were also ranked #1 after beating the UCLA Bruins in the season opener.

The Cougars were back at home after two away meets at Kentucky and Boise State, and were ready to perform for the campus crowd. The girls started on vault, where Jaime Mabray got the team high score, a 9.850. Kari Lords won top team honors with her 9.90 on bars during the second rotation.

There were problems on beam as BYU had to count a few falls, top scorers there were Trisha Ashton and Marie Helene Claveau (both with 9.875s). But the real excitement came in the 4th rotation floor routines. Brogan Jacobsen and Marie Helene Claveau both earned 9.925s and had the crowd cheering at the finale.

The #1 Utes pulled through, though, and won by 1.525 points keeping them in the top 3, while The Y dropped to 25th.

There are still 9 more meets in the season, though, including a re-match up in Salt Lake City on March 19th. Go Cougars!
