The Cancun Invitational is a great meet. The location is spectacular, the meet is very well run and a blast to compete in. I felt we competed well. We were a little rocky on bars having to count a fall, however we didn't fall being timid but rather going for it. Floor which is usually a very solid event for us got a little wild on landings, overrotating a couple mounts and dismounts. Beam started as well as we ever had having to count no falls and not very many wobbles. Vault, started with six 10.0 start values for the first time in years, however a couple of those vaults are new this year and will need time to perfect. I felt like we were on the right track for a first meet of the season and look forward to the rest of the season.
On a much sader note our team doctor and very good friend Dr. Matt Roush suffered a massive heart attack and passed away while traveling with us on this meet. This was very hard for the team as Matt worked very closely with several of the girls on the team and was very much loved by all of us. We send all our love to his family during this very difficult time.
