Monday night brought our second meet in the last 4 days. I was a bit concerned that the meets being so close together one of the two might be overlooked. Fortunately that was not the case as we came out ready to compete and did just that. The VAULT team started the meet on a good note scoring a 49.175. Trisha Ashton was our high vault score with a 9.9. Kirsten Pauga competing with a strained hamstring scored a 9.85, redeeming herself from a fall on Thursday against BSU. The rest of the vault team did well but we struggled with sticking landings. Landings will be a focus for the next few weeks.
BARS followed with strong performances from Lisa Willis, Kacie Capra, Brogan Jacobsen and Jaime Mabray. Genevieve Claveau had an uncostumary error at the start of her bar routine. She was able to save herself from a fall and finished the routine to keep us from having to count a fall on bars. BEAM had an exceptional night with great routines from Trisha Ashton(9.925), Jaime Mabray(9.825) Kari Lords(9.825 had some wobbles at the end of her set) and Lisa Willis(9.725). Kacie Capra stepped up competing for the first time on beam as a counting score(9.775 really nice double back dismount). Marie-Helene Claveau had a great set going when she fell on her punch front, fortunately we did not have to count that score. FLOOR once again was the treat of the evening. Tying our team record score of 49.575. Lisa Willis started us with a strong 9.85 followed by a great set by Kacie Capra(9.875 great full twisting double back mount). Kacie has become the ready to go on a moments notice athlete. She has stepped up for us on floor and beam and the team hasn't missed a beat. Jaime Mabray had another great set scoring 9.9, followed by Trisha Ashton with a personal best score of 9.925. Kari Lords won the event with a 9.95 routine that on another night might have been a 10.0. The team had a fine performance against Missouri besting the 14th ranked Tigers by a score of 196.725 to 195.525. Mizzou is a great gymnastics team and required of us a very solid performance to get the win.
