Regular season over

Well 13 regular season meets are over. We ended the year with an RQS that is 2 tenths higher than our school record team score before this year. What a fantastic year. We did something different this year than ever before and with this team it worked wonderfully. We had 5 meets in 2 weeks and one very light workout. March 2004 was meet, rest 2 days, meet, rest 2 days, meet etc. from the 5th to the 19th. I believe this really helped our beam and bar teams as they had to hit when it counted and there wasn't alot of time to think between meets. This kind of schedule made it almost impossible to overtrain at the end of the season. Thats a good thing. It does however wipe you out mentally and emotionally. We are very much looking forward to getting in some old fashioned training. The end of the season has gone so well as a whole that many of the individual meets have kind of run together. We have had cluch performances from so many people that it's hard to mention them all. We scored a BYU first 198.00 team score at Utah State. This meet featured spectacular performances from the Beam and Vault team. We couldn't talk about a great season without mentioning our Floor team who has anchored our gymnastics team all season, hitting one fantastic performance after another. Not enough can be said about our seniors who have lead this team through thick and thin from a 192.625 start to a 198.025 finish. NCAA Collegiate Gymnastics is about TEAM. Our seniors excelled in everything they did. Most notabely, they made their teammates better. Possibly the highest compliment you could pay a team gymnast. Trisha Ashton, Brogan Jacobsen, Kari Lords and Megan Pessoa will truly be missed next year. I can proudly say that these young ladies have earned the respect and admiration of the entire team and coaching staff.
