The season comes to an end at Regionals in Denver. The girls did a great job and are looking forward to a new season starting in the Fall with the new freshmen eager to join the team.

Regionals in Denver was a good turn out and the girls did the best they could. They finished the season in fourth place at the NCAA North Central Regional with a 193.300. We started on beam and had a few struggles, but still had some good routines from junior Dayna Smart with a 9.75, freshmen Kaylee Gallup with a 9.625, and senior Kacie Capra-Callens with a 9.60. We then headed to a bye which was followed by floor. Capra-Callens led BYU on floor with a 9.775 and Smart and senior Lisa Willis both receiving 9.70. Forth rotation was yet another bye which the girls prepared themselves for the fifth rotation which was vault. Vault was a struggle this year, but the girls proved otherwise at regionals. Junior Alethea Boon who despite injuries placed 11th with a 9.80, followed by Smart who placed 15th with a 9.775. We ended our regional meet on bars with strong performances. Willis tied her second best score of the season with a 9.70, junior Kylee Draper scored her personal-best at regionals with a 9.75, and Capra-Callens scored her highest regional score of a 9.80 placing her 9th on bars.

We are losing two great seniors, Lisa Willis and Kacie Capra-Callens. These two girls will be extremely missed especially because they contributed so much to the team. However, the remaining 10 girls who are returning are experienced for the next season and can help the new incoming freshmen who are very eager to join the team in the Fall. The summer is a time for the girls to recover from injuries, followed by staying in shape while enjoying the rest of the summer. The BYU Gymnastics team is excited to start the new season and wishes Kacie and Lisa the best of luck with their new futures.
